The past might be the past, but it is surprising how our Now's can get away from us!
They pile up behind you, those Now's, weighted by expectations and goals and truly do feel like they build an inertia in life and make it more challenging to be happy with each Now moment you can attempt to focus on.
I am reading the power of now and also working closely with a person undergoing a recovery process and she is being taught much of the same. We all could use a much better focus on the Now- lead for many by a re-awakening of trust in the body and its signals.
The challenge increases when you have thrown curve balls at it, your ability to live and listen to your body- perhaps for life and perhaps even before life with a pregnancy riddled with poor choices- either way the mechanism of the listener and the doer have been compromised.
However, nothing is concrete, infact, essentially all is plastic!!

The Vision
My journal has been swallowing my thougths and my hands have been remiss to let them loose online for sometime but now is the time to put it out there.
I want to find funding/sponsorship to record my 1 year journey towards peak performance and wellness. I want to flush out the inside of my mind and body and replenish my spirit with all of the latest tools for health and wellness from colon and liver cleanses to adrenal support cocktails and diets on to exercise/movement training to perfect my posture and mechanics along with yoga/tai chi/meditation to create focus and flexibility in my mind:body. Building on that I want to experience NLP and other coaching techniques to open up my mind, rewire faulty connections and expereince life from a new perspective. With that I want to work with an actual financial wellness expert to take a realistic look at my finances and help me create a budget for living today and tomorrow.
In short, I am searching for opportunities to engage all of the 'wellness' focused experts in showcasing their services and the amazing potential for well-living that exists today and I am hoping to record every step of the way in the written and filmed mediums with the help of experts in theses areas and with the support of companies that produce products to aid in the life I want to live.
I want to wear and use only products that have a minimum impact on my body and the environment, adhering to the "if you can eat it, then you can put it on your body" philosophy. I want to eat only the most beautiful foods that adhere to similar standards of cultivation and production and I want explore the nature of my environment with the help of consultants to examine just what I am swimming in from off-gasing to the water I bathe in.
To bring it home for people and the inner scientist that drive me, I want to track this change with every measure I can get my hands on from saliva, urine and fecal tests to live blood, serum analyses along with EMR and genetic information sampling to track the changes in how my body works from the inside out.
I want to live this life for people to see what is out there for them and so that I might be a better health practitioner and coach for my own clients.
My mission is to change the culture we live in and I dream of being on The Hour with Strombo, the Racheal Ray show, the Mercer Report, The Ellen show and Oprah along with whatever cooking and home-life shows I can get on with my message of simple health practices with simply astounding impacts.
Help me reach those people that can make change.
Help me help you and our children and theirs after them.
Help me Choose to Stay Well by Choosing for yourself.
And most importantly, have fun along the way!

Dreaming
http://www.associationfornetworkcare.com/articles/lifetimewellness.shtml
With greater movement towards the wellness spectrum there is increasing loss of personal identification with a symptom or circumstance.
The subluxation is a symptom of a conflict between one’s experience of life and the optimum structure of the body.
To the degree that we are able to participate with ourselves, our spine, and our awareness of our body, we are able to participate with the world.
Wider range of motion appears in relationship to a wider range of emotion and available adaptive energy and repertoire of responses.
The wellness practice must embrace approaches that allows for movement from “unconscious automatic” structural –sensory motor behaviors, towards more awakened, higher brain participation with the body.
With such a brain-body connection, experience of benevolent emotions such as love, compassion, and gratitude can emerge. By promoting a greater participation with this range of the human experience to a greater segment of the population, we can change the world one spine at a time.

Although these are not my words that inspire a faith in the vision I have for where we might be able to take human health and performance.
As I write these words I look at my own breakfast and schedule for the day and understand how challenging it is to make scales and continuum of life to tip towards wellness.
I sit at a computer in a library and migrate to the coffee stand and grab an espresso. Why? Because I enjoy it, but why? I envision myself feeling and experiencing my life differently with espresso in hand and move towards a muffin as well to complete the picture. Do I feel better for consuming both, no. But I still go that way on occasion, and more for asthetics and then any other reason.
Why does this happen, why do we migrate towards patterns that keep us at bay? Balance is the essential answer, our brain-body will do all it can to keep us in whatever balance we are used to and it takes effort to shake ourselves loose.
I look at my calendar, my schedule and realize that I am not allotting myself the time I want to to write my book, journal my thoughts and experience my mind-body as I wish to because of my fear of not making enough money.
It is fear that keeps us just surviving rather than stepping out and seeking ways to thrive. The issue is really that there are not as many people ready to thrive as I hope, but that number is growing, particularly as we age and are forced to learn more about our bodies.
It is this desire to learn and grow that I hope to instil in the younger generation and with that, I hope to be part of creating a culture in Canada that sets apart time for mediation and mindfulness, that creates opportunity for experiencing and understanding the whole food system and what nutrition can really mean and that opens time in our days for a consistent practice of a recess to keep the body fresh.
As I type these words I envision, as I have before, painting a picture of the schedule I wish to maintain for 1 year. Included in that is time to assess my progress with regular check-ups with practitioners, guided movement time with professionals and interview time with a co-author to help me put this journey tangibly and actionably into the hands of the public.
I can envision my tripod and HD camera and occasional crew filming my training/movement sessions and stretching. I can see the live blood cell analysis and stool/urine samples described and analyzed with professional guidance and I can see my body and energy changing before my very eyes and to the empowerment of my team and community at large.
I can see the interviews and segments on The Hour and The Mercer Report and CBC and CTV News reports and the pleasure of sharing in my journey and fielding questions from groups of all variety.
I know this will be a full dance-card but I will end this experiment with a solid crew and a ship built to sail the seas of life smoothly and with stability amidst even the roughest of patches that come along.
It starts somewhere for everyone but it ends in the same place, choosing to stay well looks and feels like the tall ship, strong and able with a crew of smiling and strong hands excited to plot the next course towards the next goal… my message traveling to centres around the world, exciting and empowering people to make their changes.

The Elevator Speech
In the networking culture there is a key component to 'success', the elevator pitch.
The theory goes that you have 7 seconds of someone's undivided attention followed another 23ish seconds of moderate attention before the next ding of their floor to get in some key words about how you can help them or people they know win with your help. I use that word, win, because I think that is what it all comes down to and in the final analysis that means living.
This is where I go astray in my elevator pitch. I believe that our culture has lost touch with it's human body, lost faith in ourselves as healers for it and we have put less value into it as something to help us win.
I ensure people win the big game by helping them build and maintain personal healthstyles designed to optimize their workstyles and create the potential to actually thrive and live the lifestyle they dream of.
This takes discipline, commitment and an appreciation for what a healthy body will do for your mind, your work and your performance overall.
I want to use important words like Sex, Food, Shelter and Clothing as the keys to survival and discuss how to use these tools to promote health and wellness.
I want to say that you might not need to have that monster breakfast you fear you need to eat at 8 am to be healthy and lose weight.
I want to say that our science has been and will be proven wrong or bettered again and again so build a team and adapt it for you.
I want to say that a good corporate wellness program will yield a 5-800% return on investment and they only care about dollars and cents... what can your program provide?
I want to ask people what their health is worth. I want to ask them how they are investing in it to ensure they can keep investing in their personal pension plans because if you're not fit to work in North America, there is no substantial hand-out waiting for you.
I want to guide people away from these types of negative thoughts however and build in them a confidence, in their practices and health teams too to ensure that they are only focused on their dreams, not the hiccups on the way.
As I look for common threads and easy teachables in the health and wellness literature I come back to this point. Ensure that all of your community, internally and externally, is on board so you can create a complete sub-culture designed to promote your health. AND JUST DO IT.
There is a growing number of people living to help you become healthier and perform better for two reasons I think. One, because we are concerned for our neighbour's health and how that affects our national economy and health care system and two, because we are committed to finding an ideal health ourselves and the best way to learn is to teach.
Help me help you.
Just Choose Well.

Brain Dumping Anew: 15 minutes for the deeper layer
I have until 8.10 to share my thoughts.
Does this message self-destruct by then? No, but perhaps my drive to share and explore will.
For those that read these entries I’m sure you have noticed a lack of activity of late. When I look for reasons as to why I am also looking for common themes, common core questions as my friend Erica would put it that might run in my background.
As a passionate person I search for ways to reach people with message of health and wellness. As a perfectionist I seek to put 100% of my efforts into each task and as a person afraid of failing I see now that I tend to bite off more than I can chew at times. These bites serve to keep me spread too thin to really dive into a task, this saves me from ever failing but not ever really following through on my visions to their full extents.
Fear is the dominating factor in my decisions still, despite my best efforts to rid myself of this concern.
I have a confidence in my body and my ability to listen to and fuel it and am happily confident in my knowledge that I will always be searching for guidance and support to keep it functioning at its best.
I am confident that I can help every client that comes my way improve their health and wellness and increase their potential to reach their goals if they themselves are ready to commit.
But there is still fear and doubt.
I fear that society has so devalued its health that I might not find an audience to help me put food on the table, pay off student debt and move forward to my greater visions.
I fear that I am up against a culture that has less and less faith in its own intuition and healing powers.
I fear that people will see my clients inability to succeed with their goals as a failing in me. I fear our overall lack of responsibility when it comes to our health and wellness and our disregard of our role in both bringing us to this place, and out of it.
These are the thoughts that bounce through my head as I catch myself hunching forward over my keyboard and sensing the stress over success and failure.
These are the thoughts and emotions I will feel, acknowledge and use as fuel. They are evidence that the the next steps will not be easy but that the reward will be substantial. These feelings let me know that I am on the brink of my comfort zone and that the next steps I take will provide amazing returns.
I can do this. I can step towards my dreams. I can.

Dumping Anew
Late in the day.
Get out and Play.
It is my vision and dream to work with people 1 on 1 to provide guidance, support and direction.
My Niche market comprises of those people and organizations that understand the logical and financial value in investing in creating an evolving health culture.
This niche is savvy enough to see the value of fun and play in the process of change and I envision seeing no more than 4 clients (or groups for interactive presentations) per day and offering them unparalleled support and access to personalized knowledge and practices.
The 3 focal activities I dream of employing with my clients are PlayERCISE, FoodFUNERCATION and Engaging MentERPLAY (I'm working on that OK). The final component is the meditative component of being engaged and focused on yourself on the regular.
From Tug-o-war to Tag, Catch-Catch and Feats of Strength, the vision is to make movement fun... all the while knowing that you are changing your genes and extending your live and livelihood.
From Sprouting Sessions to meal preparation and shopping sessions and even food delivery, Food discussion and engagement is essential and should be a process to be loved and enjoyed.
Mental engagement through creative Q&A, Bitch sessions and visioning guidance is a key component and a further vision includes regular educational appreciation events featuring people well versed and passionate in their fields.
It is late, it is time to play today and in the grander scheme of time. Engagement and personal commitment and attachment is waning as people continue to expect more for less.
I am about to depart for a Networking Event in Guelph's South end, hosted by Michelle Ivy and I am excited to get silly, have fun and make people get up and high five each other after I tell them a little about me!!
I am going to tell them I am in love. I am following my love to Toronto in May 2010 and until then I want to leave a lasting impression in Guelph.
I want each person to ask their neighbour "What worked today? What did you think, eat, drink or do that really worked to make your experience in your body and in your environment, your community better?"
My 15 minutes is up and I ask you, what are you doing that works and what do you want to try next to make things work even better!!

Regarding the Codex Alimentarius
Dear fellow concerned individuals,
I am writing this to give you an increasingly realistic picture of myself, my goals and dreams and how I feel the present and on-going Codex push can help us all achieve our goals.
It is my mission to make a cultural shift in our understanding of and focus on health and wellness as a core cultural component, over war, over politics to create a cultural pride in longevity, vitality and the human ability to perform and overcome.
Our collective definition of primary care has to include meal and movement planning with amble application of functional exercises and functional foods (to combat stress and strain and promote health). Our culture has to include access to good, clean, organic foods, spices, herbs and all the bounty mother nature naturally provides.
We need to take back control and ensure that our pervasive lack of education does not lead us to cede more of ourselves, mother nature and our human potential to a selfish greed and fear machine.
We are loosing this war of gradualism, aided by a (potentially) unwitting media. They flock to the next big story and fear-factor event and when a story about a European Court Ruling from 2005 that "Strictly prohibit(s) information about disease being treatable by nutrients and (includes a) call for future supplement dosage restrictions" happens with no major uproar, those in control know they can push the envelope a little further. Bills like C-51, 52 and recently C-6 in Canada are evidence of such potent gradualism.
What is needed is a top-down and bottom-up media message to make this gradual affront to our health and wellness big news again. Climate change and global warming has been sold to us as the focal point for our efforts to change as a global community but I put it to you that our efforts towards securing our healthful food goes beyond any control we might have over the weather. We need to rally our efforts and forces and look at the way our culture is valuing and choosing food, or how it is being valued and chosen for us.
I have a growing number of people interested in supporting our efforts to educate and disseminate information and I am excited to take the next step with you.
In health and happiness,
Scott Tate
